self-importance

self-importance

We like to be part of the secret society because it allows us to feel important. I know something you don’t know. The basis of our lives. The altruistic sort? They just hide it better. This isn’t to say we’re all just filthy liars. There’s good in this world; of this my naivity has my absolutely convinced. And I’m going to keep it that way as long as I can.

If you surrender to the pain (or desire, or whatever), does it make it more bearable? Ignorance is bliss, they tell me. Well, sure. The dog seems pretty fucking happy to me. How many times have you chosen ignorance? You don’t know, you can’t know. Maybe two years ago someone gave you the choice: you can leave things as they are, miserable in your knowledge of the shithole you’re living in, or you can take ignorance. You’ll live in the same place, but you won’t see what’s bad. It’s all one big happy family when you’re too stupid to know any better.

It’s the Matrix all over again.

sniffles

I think I’m getting sick. I’ve had a soar throat waking up the past few days, and I had a bad hacking cough type thing that got worse as today went on. And my head won’t stop pounding. Maybe sleep will help. But in the meantime, I’ve got to copy down the Chem stuff. And pee.

Noah may be waxing unnecessarily philophical (and overbroadcasting his message), but I have to hand it to him, he did a nice job of it:

Boys and Girls,

We are aging. We are tottering on the edge of senility, of
complete obsolescence — we are going the way of the megatherium.
Home Alone was released in theaters 4,381 days ago. This Saturday,
it will have been twelve years since that wondrous day. One and one-fifth
decades.
A significant portion of the Class of 2007 were in utero when the
original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was released. May they enjoy
the gift of youth whilst they are able.

We are dying.

Hugs and kisses,
Noah

It’s a terrible thing, life. Because no matter what you do, it’s killing you.
