breakfast cereals

I just had one of the most disgusting bowls of oatmeal I’ve ever had. It was all watery, I didn’t measure right, and it got cold by the time I got around to eating it. I didn’t even finish half. Ugh, nasty.

I have this Uniball pen. It’s a nice pen, although nothing terribly out of the ordinary. I really like writing with it when the ink flows nicely. But, often, it dries up. It isn’t out of ink, it just doesn’t write well. But when it does, when I manage to hold it just so; oh, that’s nice. I realize this is a strange example, but there’s a point: Things are better when you’ve got to fight them a little. It’s not just that waiting for something is half the fun. It’s that taming it, that knowing you’ve done something to make this work, makes the final product all that more satisfactory.

Today in Driver’s Ed Sheldon (I’m not sure that’s his name anymore, but for simplicity’s sake I’ll still use it) was rapping. He’s funny enough talking normally, but this was a bit much. He essentially took his already-ridiculous dialect and sped it up. There was a somewhat distinctive rhythm to it (when he actually managed to spit something out instead of breaking down and giggling), and I could catch some of what he was saying, but it was still going waaay too fast. He kept tripping over his own words. I’m beginning to wonder how old he is, too. The entire song (which was “just something I was writin’ down befo’”) was a hackneyed piece about sex. Fair enough, but this kid shouldn’t be older than 15 or 16. He told me the first day he didn’t go to school, he’d gotten his GED and had just gotten out of jail for a dope case. Well, ok, but he sure acts like he’s 15.

Background Noise: Weezer’s “El Scorcho.” Goddam you half Japanese girls…
