“there’s not a catch phrase that can save us now”

“there’s not a catch phrase that can save us now”

…so professes Less than Jake, at least. Truth of the statement? I’m tempted to agree with it. Catch phrases are great for flash and pizzazz and hyperbole and making you want to piss your pants. But that’s about it.

I changed my AIM font today. ‘Tis a sad day, when this is worth talking about. But it sparked an interesting discussion with Roveiza about the importance of content vs. presentation. I am a firm believer that presentation takes a distinctive back seat to content (despite my constant fitzing with the design of this site). She is of the dissenting opinion that presentation takes precedent.

Other highlights of the day… This morning I went over to Hannah’s house. I thought I was going to get interrogated by her mother, but not at all. I got there, said “Hi,” and we were out the door. We walked over to Orchard Downs, where we ran into Nathan and Nobu. They were kind enough to let us use their sleds for a bit. So we had great fun sledding with them for a little over an hour, then walked back. At her house we had some hot chocolate with her little brother (Jack?) and his friend (whose name I cannot recall for the life of me). I couldn’t get to my mom, so I was going to walk over to my dad’s office, but I called him and he was kind enough to pick me up from her house. I was extremely worried for a moment when he came to the door, because he had to meet Hannah’s mom. It has nothing to do with either of them, it’s just that I don’t trust most parents to talk to one another, especially in a situation such as this.

Tomorrow I’m going shopping for sheets. My mom is on something of a design trip. But it’s all right with me, maybe I can get a dust ruffle or something to cover up the ugly pink mattress I’ve got. OR, I could get a new mattress. I like the second idea better, because the damn thing makes my back hurt like hell in the mornings. Damnit, I’m getting old.

from this morning. damn posting troubles

follow the yellow brick road

Poor little blog which I have neglected of late. And the thing is, I haven’t even been that busy, mostly just moping around the house. I don’t mind having nothing to do, but I don’t understand how having nothing to do means I do nothing.

I’m listening to “Glass Dance” by The Faint. It’s rather good. I’ve been talking to the guy from Angels in Bondage on AIM lately. He said he might send me a CD of some of his newer stuff, which would be pretty cool. His music has this sort of calculated feel to it, but in a good way. Originally I downloaded it trying to find something to run to, but it’s too fast-paced for it. Now that I think of it, some of this Faint music might be good for running to. I just need something with a strong base beat.

All right, it’s off to Hannah’s house now, to meet her mother. Eek. See y’all later.
