‘been around this block 10,000 times’

Tuesday, May 20th, 2003 at about 11:02 pm

Today I went for a walk around the block. That’s about all that happened. There was an awards ceremony at school; boring as expected.

This is stupid, I’ve got too little to say tonight.

whoa.

Monday, May 19th, 2003 at about 11:51 pm

Holy shit! I just spent two minutes listening to two separate songs at the same time, and not realizing it. I was just like, “whoa, this is a really cool song”. Then I went to check on another song that was downloading, and realized with was playing at the same time! This is incredible, because it actually sounds like it’s supposed to be that way. So, if you’re curious, try playing “Sweet Dreams” by Marylin Manson and “Pretty Piece of Flesh” by Nine Inch Nails at the same times. It’s incredible.

void

Monday, May 19th, 2003 at about 9:40 pm

I went for a walk across the fields near my house. In New Jersey I would go walking in the woods, but the lack of woods precludes such a possibility here. But, the corn fields do almost as well when they’re empty. I’ve never seen anything so empty. Looking in the right direction, there’s a set of power lines, a road with a couple cars, but other than that, basically nothing. It has this sort of hopeless beauty to it. It sounds depressing, but I find it rather exhilarating.

Today, on the way home, the bus was going abnormally fast. I didn’t think much of it, and was actually happy I would get home sooner. Then the driver just pulled over on the side of the road near Assembly Hall, and ran into this portapotty 20 feet from the street. The guy sitting a few seats in front of me turned and said, “I guess this explains the speed we were going.” I just smiled. The bus driver came back, and we proceeded on our reckless way, seeing as now he was running a little late, I suppose. The whole thing just kinda amused me.

nightmares and daydreams

Sunday, May 18th, 2003 at about 11:06 pm

I think I’m going to start writing fiction. It’s just an idea, but it might be fun. I’ll write it here, since I have no other real place to. This site could use a booster shot of something interesting anyway.

I won’t start tonight. I was toying with the idea of a story about a life down a different path. Nothing new, in a literary sense, just a way to explore possibilities for my own life that I’m fairly certain will never come to pass. But, I dunno, its not developed yet. I think I’m going to abandon it before I get myself in trouble and write myself into a corner by not staying true to the concept.

Enough of this, I don’t even know what I’m talking about.

out of the vein and into the eardrum

Sunday, May 18th, 2003 at about 6:13 pm

Out of the VeinI’m listening to Third Eye Blind’s new CD, Out of the Vein, which I just picked up today. I’m not even halfway through, but I rather like it. It’s similar to their other albums, but this one (at least so far) is a little more towards rock. I’m hoping for some more of the mellow songs that I love so much on their other CD’s to appear later on this one. More to follow (maybe) when I’m finished listening to it.

run

Saturday, May 17th, 2003 at about 3:02 pm

Ah, nothing like waking up at 7:15 on a Saturday morning to run 5 kilometers. My muscles are tired, but not sore, and at least I don’t have much to do for the rest of the day. Very little homework, Zoë’s in Chicago until tonight, and its only 1 in the afternoon. So, relaxation. I’ll just chill, maybe take a nap, and maybe even get a little work done.

I’m quite happy with my 5K time; 26-something is about what I was hoping for. I’ve never imagined myself as much of a long distance runner, but I guess it’s all right to do once a year at a mandatory mandatory event. I guess it’s good to push yourself (both physically and mentally) every once in a while. It makes you appreciate the time when you get to be lazy more.

I’m off to figure out how many pairs of socks and such I’ll need to buy for my trip to Greece. I’ve only got about 4 pairs that aren’t ratty and fit right, which isn’t going to be enough to last two weeks. Until next time, mes amis.

‘in this dust that was a city’

Thursday, May 15th, 2003 at about 10:41 pm

Damn history test tomorrow. It’d better be easy, or I’m screwed.

I can’t believe how lazy I am.

The days drag on. Time has no hold on me the last few weeks of school. And my motivation is shot. I’ve found myself hating class more and more. Usually I feel pretty benign, just sit there and soak up whatever I can. But now I’ve begun to sit there and can actually feel my brain rejecting the entire situation. It’s disheartening.

bad omens

Thursday, May 15th, 2003 at about 9:13 am

What the fuck? Searching for “Sucking Everwood Pussy” on MSN has my blog as the second hit (I know this because someone came here through that search). This may be a bad sign…

16’s unsafe

Wednesday, May 14th, 2003 at about 11:12 pm

Man I’ve really got nothing exciting to say. Nothing out of the ordinary has really happened lately. Everything is just sorta… going along. Which, I suppose, is better than things being bad (”no new is good news”) but it gets a little odd, after a while. It’s not even like suffocating boredom; indeed I’m anything but bored. All the little distractions of the day keep me occupied, and I go to sleep tired every night. But, still, I have to wonder if this is it. I mean, it’s nice, for what it is, but I can’t help feeling like there’s something more to life that I’m missing. Probably just exemplifies human nature (or at least, my nature), in that we (I) always want what we (I) can’t have. So for now, I think I’ll shut up, and go outside to look for tornadoes.
