creative? not really.

Tuesday, December 30th, 2003 at about 11:56 pm

I’m trying to think of ideas for a play. I want to write and direct one of Student Productions. Preliminary ideas have included a person going and meeting (getting stuck with?) this group of people who are all extremely good at whatever they do, are very capable and adept people, but they’ve all got this one crippling flaw they cannot overcome. Sort of a tradgedy, but perhaps a happy ending? Also, a drug addict who O/D’s and goes into a coma, and the play is split between the dream world, where he’s wandering around through his own subconscious, and the real world. His progress internally is mirrored by his physical state in the real world. And eventually the big giant spot looming over the stage, which keeps coming ever closer, growing, growing, eventually it overpowers him. His own death arrives.

party like its 2099!

Tuesday, December 30th, 2003 at about 11:51 pm

What are people doing for New Year’s Eve? My rather complicated plans aren’t terribly exciting, but I think I will have fun. We need more random holidays like this. Don’t we have more to celebrate? We should have huge Midsummer’s Day bashes. Although I suppose that’s about graduation anyway, but still. Seems like a good excuse to have a good time, no?

Things I do not like:

excessive and generally uncalled-for use of happy smily faces.

in a furious attempt to escape obscurity:

Monday, December 29th, 2003 at about 6:41 pm

I was thinking, the other day. Wouldn’t it be crazy if the human life cycle was reversed? We just sort of slowly composed ourselves of organic matter, then sprang to consiousness in one brilliant moment of generation. The opposite of death. Then we slowly gained strength and health, peaking about 20 years before the end of our lives. We then quickly became nothing more than babies, and eventually crawled back up into the womb to die. We would return, in death, to our own species, our beings slowly absorbed by the race.

well the weather outside is frightful

Wednesday, December 24th, 2003 at about 11:05 am

Maggie and I, faced with another night of nothing to do, went up to visit Kimmy at Baskin’ Robins. She was just getting off work, so we went and chilled with her and Ma’ayan for the night. I came home and fell asleep in front of the TV. Got into bed around 2, and still managed to wake up by 9. Oh well, I guess I just don’t need that much sleep. I’m not waiting for Eli to call and see if he can hang with Maggie and I. Plus I need to do one last bit of Christmas shopping. But that should all fit in the allotted time span. I just hope there are cards left at the store. Hmmm, that might be an issue.

It’s Christmas tomorrow! C’est incroiable. Really does sneak up on you, doesn’t it?

how naive

Sunday, December 21st, 2003 at about 9:22 pm

So bring on the days of nothingness, filled solely with computer games and lazy times spent with friends. I’ve seen a movie a day the past three days, and have another one or two to watch before Christmas. Mmmm, Christmas. I had a revelation the other day that Christmas is neither a primarily a “giving” nor “receiving” holiday, since everything given is received, and vice versa. So it’s just sort a redistribution holiday. Yes, it’s a ridiculously childish thing to realize, but it came as a mild surprise to me nonetheless.

my revival

Friday, December 19th, 2003 at about 8:27 pm

Can you say hooray for winter break? 16 blissful days of nothing await me. No travel, no work, nada. Except I suppose Christmas and New Year’s, and that’s hardly anything to complain about. I kinda wish I could take a 5 day trip back to New Jersey, but I can’t so I won’t sweat it. And there are plenty of other people who are hanging around for most of break as well, so I’ll be in good company. Ah, this will be exciting.

‘ like the latest fashion.. ‘

Sunday, December 14th, 2003 at about 12:20 am

Mmmm. I spent the morning PLANing for the future, then watched Rocky Horror, and came home for some non-existant holiday cheer. Which forced me to miss watching Lord of the Rings, but I suppose these things happen. Watched a terrible documentary on skateboarding at night, but it wasn’t a total loss. And I’ve consumed a bunch of chocolate, which is nice.
