why don’t you get a job

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005 at about 2:22 pm

I met with the grad student I’ll be working with this summer and the professor he’s studying under. I am now extremely excited for work to begin. I’ll be sorting through some old video equipment (framegrabber cards, CCD cameras) to see what works and what doesn’t. Even better, I get to write interfaces for control and data acquisition of an optical diffractometer - lots of tiny motors moving a sensor around and rotating a sample. This is like the Lego Mindstorms I used to play with, except more practical, technical, and probably a good 50 times more expensive.

I’ll help run experiments and keep the lab stocked, too. Should be good.
